From Eastern Europe (Hungary) coming at you with their vintage style and sound (check the Jamaican / Hungary photo mix on the cover!). The Pannonia Allstars Ska Orchestra have been performing together since 2003 and right here is their first full length record!
If you are like me and you like the original old style of ska, but you want something that is new and refreshing, just wait till you get this on your stereo, your auditory thirst will be quenched! PASO have a very good grasp on the future of ska music, blending of up tempo skanks, bedrock Reggae riddims, 2Tone tunes and deep dub echoes are sure to please all the ska fans and especially those that are musically open to outside elements influencing the creation of this new ska sound. Listen closely for definite "Doors" inspired organs lines! Sounds like jazzy grooves and authentic Eastern European musical melodies are sure to put PASO out in the forefront of bands on the ska circuit today.
On a personal note, the band is also doing something that I think more bands, especially ska bands (anyone hear of u n i t y ?) their lyrics condemn discrimination of any sort based on gender, race, nationality and sexual preference...yet they still retain a fun and uplifting spirit and attitude. Maybe this trend will catch on with other bands out there...
This cd is the Megalith Records Europe release. We have limited quantities in stock at the moment.
