This band very much carries on the tradition of West Coast flavored reggae based music with ska twinges sprinkled here and there. I know most people are going to compare them to Sublime, but without all the punkness. This band is much more than that though, don't write them off as a Sublime rip-off (although Kendo did play in Dubcat which featured members of both Hepcat and Long Beach Dub Allstars)...The band is like a nice balance of all things we love about Jamaican influenced music with a modern hip-hop flava. Smooth vocals and very deep grooves, this band is going to flow very well in my car during the summer, with the windows down.
Social and political commentary are smartly interwoven amoung playful lyrics and catchy melodies that are sure to be off-beating through your brain all day long. Original coming from off from Hawaii, the band has relocated to San Diego and currently playing many show to push this release, which has just been snatched up for release in Japan as well! The album can be purchased as a download from all your favorite download sites if you like to save the plastic, or you can get the physical disc right here. With a great graphic art style and crisp recordings to match, we hope to hear a lot more from this band in the coming year! Go TeamRokit!
