Fast Food Orchestra bring you their 4th full length record and their second on Megalith Records. This band is a wonderful mix of all the Jamaican ska based musical elements. Fusing traditional flavors and styles together with their own quirky sounds, Fast Food Orchestra are definitely on the cusp of a new era of ska music. The band is heavy on the beats and light hearted on the lyrics. With this 4th record, you can really hear both the level of maturity in the song writing and the increasing talent in the musicianship. The band will embark on a 2008 European with ska legends, The Toasters. This is sure to give them their music due exposure.
Be sure to pick this record up, if you like modern skillful and exciting music, that is sure to bombard your ears with sounds that will keep your toes tapping all day long. I stated in the past that both Fast Food Orchestra and Pannonia All Stars Ska Orchestra were some of my favorite modern ska bands, and this album helps solidify that statement. I am really enjoying this record more and more, I think the album is definitely more mainstream (does that even exist?) accessible. The individual songs are more "singles" driven, whereas the previous album had more of a continuous collage and them amoung the tunes, due to them being formed mainly in the live performance atmosphere. This album seems to be a bit more faster as well, the songs have a bit more energy and aren't as laid back as "Mangrooves", more heavy horn driven as well. If you are looking for talented ska and some quality recording ska, then this is the record for you.
